Gabrielle Union opened up and got real about how she felt about using a surrogate to have her daughter with Dwayne Wade while speaking to Marie Claire in their first-ever motherhood issue. For Gabrielle, she felt that she was a failure because her body couldn’t do what she needed it to do – carry a baby. Despite feeling this way, she had nothing but praise for her surrogate and is eternally grateful for what she did to bring her daughter, Kaavia, into the world.
Gabrielle has also been vocal about her fertility struggles and parenting decisions without hesitation for many years, and she feels that her age (52) helps her handle any criticism that comes her way. These days she says she feels a lot more patient and a lot less resentment.
