She Didn’t Know She Wanted Kids, Until She Became Disabled

Mother with Child at Sunset 1

In her twenties, Jessica Slice always told her friends and family that she was never going to have children.  However, that all changed when she got heat exhaustion on a hike in Santorini, which then triggered a latent neurological condition and a genetic connective tissue disorder.  Now, at the age of 28 she was permanently disabled and spent most of her time in bed.

This is when her thoughts turned to having children once she learned that her disease would be permanent.  She then found someone she wanted to have children with, but the doctors determined that it was too risky for her to carry a baby.  The couple chose adoption for their first child, who is now 8, and surrogacy for their second child, who is now 1 year old.
